We are honoring here the student who secured first place at the national level. Seeing this recognition, the other students here should also study with the determination to achieve first place in the same manner, stated the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan.
A special ceremony was held today – on Monday 27 July 2026, in the school auditorium to honor Master Ananthasothy Lakshyan, a student of Jaffna Hindu Primary School, who scored 194 marks in the 2025 Grade 5 Scholarship Examination and secured first place nationwide in the Tamil medium. The student was also specially honored for representing Sri Lanka as a Junior Ambassador at the Asia-Pacific Children’s Conference (BRIDGE SUMMER CAMP 2026) held in Japan.
After attending the event as the chief guest and honoring the student, the Governor further stated:
There was once a golden era when the Northern Province, particularly Jaffna District, excelled in education. Although there has been a slight decline from that standard, Master Ananthasothy Lakshyan has instilled in us the confidence that we can once again reach our former level.
I wholeheartedly congratulate Ananthasothy Lakshyan. He has brought immense pride to his school and his parents. He could not have achieved this success easily. This achievement and honor have come to him as a reward for his hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm in education.
Honoring this student today will greatly encourage other students as well. It will serve as an excellent source of inspiration for many. Other students should aspire to achieve as he has and should study with exceptional dedication and enthusiasm. It is not enough to excel academically alone; you must also develop your good character and humanity accordingly.
I am well aware of the high esteem this school enjoys in our society. Many parents greatly desire that their children study here. I know how many parents strive to obtain admission to Grade 1. Many even come to me requesting recommendations. However, I do not do so. If I do it for one person, I must do it for everyone. Therefore, I will never support such improper precedents. I wish this school continued success in producing students who achieve at the national level, said the Governor.
The felicitation ceremony was held under the leadership of the school’s Principal, Mrs. L. Sivapatham. The Zonal Director of Education for Jaffna, Mrs. Malathi Mugunthan, attended as the special guest. Also present were the Secretary of the School Development Society, P. Gajatheepan, the parents of that student, the teacher who taught the student, former principals, teachers, students and many others.
