Special discussion on arrangements for conducting interviews to recruit graduates into the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service

As the results of the competitive examination conducted for the recruitment of graduates into the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service are due to be released, a special discussion was held today – on Tuesday 08 September 2026, at the Governor’s Secretariat under the chairmanship of the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, to discuss the arrangements for conducting the interviews to be carried out as the next step in accordance with the Cabinet decision.

The Cabinet had granted approval to recruit 23,344 graduates into the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service with the aim of filling teacher vacancies in national and provincial schools across the country. Accordingly, a competitive examination had been conducted to fill teacher vacancies in Sinhala, Tamil and English medium schools.

In accordance with the Cabinet decision, matters including calling for interviews the graduates who qualify based on the examination results and the procedures for conducting the interviews were discussed in detail. The Governor instructed that preparatory measures be taken to carry out these activities without delay.

The Chairman of the Provincial Public Service Commission – Northern Province, the Secretary to the Governor, the Secretary to the Provincial Ministry of Education, the Secretary of the Provincial Public Service Commission, the Deputy Chief Secretary – Administration on behalf of the Chief Secretary of Northern Province, the Provincial Director of Education, the Private Secretary to the Governor and the Assistant Secretary to the Governor participated in this discussion.
