President to Visit Mannar and Mullaitivu Districts – Discussion Led by Governor on Preparations

A special discussion on the preparations for the visit of His Excellency the President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to the Mannar and Mullaitivu districts next Wednesday (16 September 2026) was held this morning – on Friday 11 September 2026, at the Governor’s Secretariat under the chairmanship of Hon. Governor of the Northern Province N. Vethanayahan.

During the President’s visit, he will participate in the foundation stone laying ceremonies for the building complexes to be constructed at the district hospitals in Mannar and Mullaitivu with financial assistance from the Government of India. The Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka will also participate in these events.

Accordingly, as a building for the Accident and Emergency Treatment Unit is to be constructed in Mannar District and a building for a medical ward is to be constructed in Mullaitivu District, the arrangements required to conduct the foundation stone-laying ceremonies for the respective buildings successfully and in an orderly manner were discussed in detail at today’s meeting.

Particular attention was paid to matters including the coordination of the events to be held in both districts, the necessary infrastructure and practical arrangements.

The Secretary to the Governor, Secretary to the Provincial Ministry of Health, Deputy Chief Secretary – Engineering Services, Provincial Director of Health Services, Additional Provincial Director of the Department of Buildings and the Private Secretary to the Governor participated in the discussion.
