The Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, and the Hon. Member of Parliament for the Jaffna District, K. Ilankumaran, today – on Thursday, 16 April 2026, conducted an on-site inspection of the Delft Regional Hospital and the newly constructed hybrid power generation project, and carried out evaluations.
The construction work of the hybrid power generation plant being established in Delft is currently progressing rapidly. It was stated during the visit that, as the initial phase of the project, solar power generation activities will be completed soon, and electricity distribution to the public will commence thereafter.
Following this, the Hon. Governor and the Hon. Member of Parliament visited the Delft Regional Hospital, where they inquired about various shortcomings and needs. In particular, issues such as the shortage of staff, including the need for more doctors and other challenges faced by the hospital were brought to the attention of the Governor.
After reviewing these matters, the Hon. Governor assured that appropriate steps would be taken promptly to address the deficiencies of the hospital.
