As directed by the Governor that every Local Government Council in the Northern Province should undertake special programs to keep their areas clean, Nallur and Valigamam East Regional Councils have started their special programs on 21 August 2023 under the leadership of Northern Province Governor Mrs. P.S.M Charles.
On 21.08.2023, at 7 am, the event of placing waste bins in Tirunelveli junction under Nallur Pradeshiya Sabha was started by the Governor. Subsequently, at 7.30 am, the first tree of planting thousand trees in the areas under Valigamam East Divisional Council was officially launched by the governor at Chemmani junction.
These projects will be implemented in collaboration with the public in the respective areas under the guidance of the Governor. In that way, the shopkeepers are responsible for the waste bins in the waste bin placement programme . The Department of Local Government has informed that all these projects will be carried out with the cooperation of the public.
