The ceremony for issuing appointment letters to 35 Health Service Assistants

The ceremony for issuing appointment letters to 35 Health Service Assistants to fill vacant positions in the Northern Province was held today (16.10.2026) at the Governor’s Secretariat. These appointments were awarded by the Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Marine Resources, Ramalingam Chandrasekaram, and the Northern Provincial Governor, N. Vethanayahan. These vacancies arose after candidates from the 350 appointments issued last September failed to assume their posts.

Addressing the event, the Governor stated that the current government appointments are awarded transparently on the basis of talent free from political interference, bribery, and corruption, unlike in previous years. Furthermore, he instructed the newly appointed individuals to discharge their duties responsibly without requiring supervision and to serve as role models for others.

In his address, Minister Ramalingam Chandrasegaram urged the youth who secured these appointments through an interview without any political influence, to carry out their public service with dedication in this era of digitalization. The event was attended by the higher officials including S. Sathyaseelan/ Secretary to the Governor, Mrs. P. Jeyarani Secretary of Northern Provincial Ministry of Health.
