The 40th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council has begun in Geneva last month. The Governor of Northern Province Dr. Suren Raghavan has been appointed by the President Maithripala Sirisena to take part in the Human Rights Council’s session.

On behalf of Northern Province, Parliamentarians representing the Northern Province and former Northern Provincial Councilors, NGOs, religious leaders and other representatives of people can submit their requests in written form to the Governor who will present them at the Geneva session.

The letters in this regard have been sent to the above representatives on 08th March 2019 and they can submit their requests to the Governor’s Secretariat in Jaffna.

At the meantime, the public can hand over their requests on the Governor’s Public Day which will be held on 13th March 2019 at Chief Minister’s Office, Kaithady. For this purpose, a special unit is allotted at this place.

The former Members of the Northern Provincial Council, MK Sivajilingam and Ananthi Sasitharan submitted their demands at the Governor’s Secretariat on 09th March 2109. The Governor’s Personal Secretary and Public Relations Officer received this letter on behalf of the Governor.
