Hon. Minister Susil Prem Jayantha has stated that allocations have been requested from the upcoming budget to fill the principal and administrative service vacancies in all school systems in the country, and resolve teacher-principal salary discrepancies and pay arrears.
The minister stated the above while participating in the agricultural exhibition of the school entrepreneurship horticulture program held at Mullaitivu Mallavi Central College.
Entrepreneurial school gardening was started targeting 150 schools in Northern Province with the support of many organizations including the Ministry of Education, Provincial Ministry of Education, Agriculture and Health, Office of the Chief Secretary of North Province Council, and Governor’s Office. Entrepreneurial school horticulture has been successful and the efforts will be started with Mallavi Central College under the leadership of the Minister and will be completed tomorrow. New technical knowledge is provided to farmers to solve agricultural problems and advice is given to promote agricultural production.
Ten thousand school students are expected to visit this exhibition and arrangements have been made to provide lunch to those children. Rs. 150000 each worth of cheques were distributed by the minister to 87 schools to make the event a success. Minister of Fisheries Douglas Devananda, Governor of Northern Province Mrs. PSM Charles, Minister Kadar Mastan and Member of Parliament Kulasingan Dileepan also participated in this event.
