Based on the decision taken at the Discussion held under the Chairwomanship of Hon. Governor Northern Province with the participation of Chief Secretary Northern Province, Secretary Ministry of Agriculture Northern Province, Provincial Director of Agriculture Northern Province, Provincial Land Commissioner Northern Province and Officials from Ceylon Vege Tech (Pvt) Ltd, the High Tech Dry Chilli production programme will be implemented by Ceylon Vege Tech (Pvt) Ltd with support of Provincial Department of Agriculture Northern Province with the objective of for increase in dry chilli production.
The first instance 10 beneficiaries from each districts of Northern Province have been selected in cluster basis.
Mr.S.Sivakumar Provincial Director of Agriculture Northern Province, Mr. Buddhika Jeyawardana & Mr. Dinesh Ranasinghe from Ceylon Vege Tech (Pvt) Ltd. and official from Provincial Department of Agriculture Northern Province visited to selected villages of four districts and discussed with selected beneficiaries on project activities.
The discussions were held at Mulankavil in Killinochchi District, Koorai in Mannar District, Kanagarayankulam in Vavuniya District and Udaiyaarkaddu in Mullaitivu District.
Officials from Ceylon Vege Tech (Pvt) Ltd explained about project activities and their role in this project. Provincial Director of Agriculture Northern Province explained to officials from Ceylon Vege Tech (Pvt) Ltd regarding appropriate technologies, needs of the farmers and farmer’s expectation. The selected beneficiaries agreed to do the dry chilli production.
