Governor of Northern Province Dr. Suren Raghavan visited Ealing Shri Kanaga Thurkai Amman Temple in London today (Oct. 31).
The Governor visited the temple and attended the religious ceremonies and met with the members of the temple’s committee.
The committee members of the temple said that they are ready to assist in the education of university students who are below the poverty line of Sri Lanka and requested the Governor to help them in this regard.
The Governor stated that this can be done through the Northern Co-operative Development Bank and he is ready to take action in this regard after the discussion with the Chairman of the Co-operative Development Bank.
Meanwhile, the Governor said that he was trying to convert 20 abandoned ambulances that had been left unused by the Northern Provincial Ministry of Health into the mobile library to send them to the villages in the Northern Province. The Governor asked the administration of the temple to cooperate with this venture.
The temple administration said that they are ready to create a business venture in the Northern Province in collaboration with the Governor’s Secretariat.
