“You are a very good example of how success can be achieved through collective and united effort as a community. Having sent students from here to all universities, it is indeed commendable that you have now sent students to the Faculty of Medicine as well. Never give up on these outstanding efforts,” said the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan.
He made these remarks while participating as the chief guest and delivering a speech at the annual sports festival of the Chuipuram West Kalaimagal Sports Club and the event honoring outstanding students. The event was held today – on Tuesday evening, 14 April 2026, in a grand manner at the Kalaimagal Auditorium under the chairmanship of the club president, Neelavannan Anisran.

Many who spoke before me highlighted the free education services carried out here, as well as the active role of the social organizations functioning in this village. It was also evident how united they are in their efforts. For the development of any institution, both strong leadership and unity among its administrators are vital. It is because you possess both these qualities that you have been able to achieve so much.
For the true development of a village, the enthusiasm and contribution of its social organizations are crucial. Only then can a village move rapidly towards development.
We are deeply concerned about current social deviations. We must create opportunities for young people to engage in constructive activities beyond their study time. It is very pleasing to see many young children here today. You have also created opportunities for sports for them. Therefore, I can see that these children are on the right path.
Students who benefit from free education here have excelled not only in academics but also in sports. This is a great opportunity for them to develop their personality and leadership qualities. This forum must also instill leadership skills in these children. Only when education is combined with strong leadership qualities can one achieve success in life.
Today, you have sent students to the Faculty of Medicine, which is highly commendable. In the future, you will surely send more students to all faculties of universities. I extend my best wishes in advance for that,” he said.
At this event, the Hon. Governor presented commemorative awards to students who passed the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination, the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination, and those who were selected for university.
Special guests and Guests of honour at the event included Valikamam Zonal Deputy Director of Education A. Judes Karunakaran, Chankanai Divisional Secretariat Child Protection Officer R. Raviraj, Sports Officer from Chankanai Divisional Secretariat M. Kapilan, Chuipuram West Grama Niladhari K. Rajkanna, and Moolai Grama Niladhari N. Sivarupan, among others.
