The activities of the Trust Fund Board established with Cabinet approval to administer the Jaffna Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre have officially commenced with the signatures of its members. At an event held this morning – on Friday 18 September 2026, at the Jaffna Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre, the members of the Trust Fund Board signed the official documents.
The Board, established to carry forward the Jaffna Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre under a proper administrative structure and to continue implementing its objectives, comprises four ex-officio members and five expert members selected on a sectoral basis.
The ex-officio members are the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, Secretary of the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Varnakulsooriya Prince Senatheera, Hon. Mayoress of the Jaffna Municipal Council, Mrs. V. Mathivathani and Commissioner of the Jaffna Municipal Council, D.C. Aravindaraj,
The sectoral members, namely Mrs. Santhini Sivanesan from the field of arts and culture, Kanapathipillai Prabakaran from the legal field, Rathinaveluppillai Mayuranathan from the commercial sector, Kosalai Mathan from the field of education and Professor Sivakolunthu Srisatkunarajah from the field of science and technology, signed as members of the Trust Fund Board in the presence of Attorney-at-Law and Notary Public Sara George.
This event marks an important initial step towards continuing to operate the Jaffna Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centre under proper administration in accordance with its objectives.
