Training on Developing Bee Keeping for Honey Production and Enhancing Pollination held at DATC, Vaddakachchi on 26th of February 2020 with the participation of Professor Emeritus N.Sriskandarajah, Swedish University of Agriculture Sciences and his colleague Ms.Lotta Fabricius Kristiansen as resource personnel for the staff of the Provincial Department of Agriculture and farmers of Northern Province.
Farmers and officers altogether 70 participants participated in the particular Training Program. The above Training mainly focused on as to how the farmers to protect bee colonies from pest attacks & develop bee keeping for honey production.
Mr.P.Atputhachandran, Deputy Provincial Director of Agriculture, Kilinochchi has inaugurated the training. Ms.Lotta Fabricius Kristiansen who is an Extensionist attached to Swedish University and also an expert in Bee keeping and the owner of a Honey Producing Company named as Pollinera Sverige in Sweden, shared her experience in bee keeping.
A study tour was arranged to Krishnapuram AI Range and visited the fields in which bee colonies have already established in bee boxes. Professor Emeritus N.Sriskandarajah, Swedish University of Agriculture Sciences summarized and concluded the session with a fruitful discussion.
