The Governor assured the farmers that necessary action will be taken regarding their requests including rehabilitation of the tank and heightening of its bund in Thunukkai division of Mullaitivu District. During a site-visit to this area today (22.10.2026), accompanied by the Member of Parliament for Vanni District M. Jegatheeswaran and Higher Officials, the Governor stated that a discussion will be held with the relevant authorities regarding the rehabilitation of Puthuvedduvan Tank which falls under the purview of the Department of Wildlife Conservation. He also commended the youths of this division for engaging in modern agriculture activities.
Following this, a discussion was held with the farmers on expanding the cultivation area by heightening the bund of Iyankulam tank and levelling the tank bed. Further, it was decided to construct a bridge over the water Channel of Therankandal Tank next year through Road Development Department, and examine the feasibility of heightening its bund rather than deepening the Tank.
