The One-Stop Investment Portal introduced to enable investors to make their investments in the Northern Province easily and quickly must be operated in a manner that fully delivers its expected benefits. Northern Province Hon. Governor N. Vethanayahan emphasized that the mechanism should be strengthened by identifying and resolving the challenges and delays encountered in its implementation, while also providing the necessary training to further enhance the capacities of the relevant officials.
A special discussion on the progress of the One-Stop Investment Portal launched with the aim of facilitating investments in the Northern Province, the challenges and delays encountered in its implementation, and measures to address them was held yesterday (27.08.2026) Thursday evening at the Jetwing Hotel in Jaffna city.
The One-Stop Investment Portal was officially launched last May based on the vision of the ‘Northern Investment Summit – 2026’ event, with the aim of finding solutions to the longstanding administrative barriers faced by investors in the Northern Province. This mechanism was developed to enable investors to obtain the necessary government services through a single location, avoiding the need to visit various departments separately to obtain approvals.
At today’s discussion, the operational progress of this mechanism, obstacles encountered in implementing investment proposals, coordination between departments, and the next steps required to provide investors with prompt services were examined.
In addition, measures to make the portal more effective so that information on investment opportunities, approval procedures, and the services of relevant government institutions reaches investors clearly and conveniently were also examined.
It is noteworthy that this One-Stop Investment Portal was developed with the assistance of the Management Club and the University of Vavuniya.
The discussion was attended by Professor A. Arputharaja, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Vavuniya, Deputy Chief Secretary – Planning of the Northern Province, Planning Directors of all five districts of the Northern Province, as well as Northern Investment Conference Project Director Indra Kausal Rajapaksa, Management Club Vice President of Administration Shanthy Pakeerathan and President of Management Club Jaffna Branch Anuragavan, among others.
