A special meeting to examine arrangements for carrying forward the province’s development projects without disruption under the current circumstances was held today – on Wednesday morning, 15 April 2026, at the Governor’s Secretariat, under the chairmanship of the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan.
During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on the challenges faced by contractors due to the rising cost of construction materials and the resulting impact on development projects. It was decided to take immediate remedial measures, including price revisions, through the Deputy Chief Secretary – Engineering Services of Northern Province to address these issues.
Furthermore, the Hon. Governor provided special guidance to officials regarding administrative expenses and financial management required to expedite the reconstruction of infrastructure damaged by the ‘Ditwah’ natural disaster.
The meeting was attended by Secretaries of Northern Province Ministries, Deputy Chief Secretaries, Provincial Directors, and several senior government officials.
