New Year Message from Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan

The Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, has extended his heartfelt New Year greetings to all people celebrating the blossoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year with joy.

In his New Year message, he states:
This New Year, which is born in harmony with nature and based on the cycle of the sun, is a noble festival deeply intertwined with our traditions and culture. Celebrated jointly by both Tamil and Sinhala communities on the same auspicious day, this festival serves as a meaningful bridge that strengthens ethnic harmony, brotherhood, and mutual understanding.

Having risen from past challenges, our Northern Province is now moving forward rapidly toward a hopeful and prosperous future. At a time when the global conflict situation has once again created challenges for our recovering region, the strong and commendable leadership of His Excellency the President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has enabled our people to achieve a swift recovery from these impacts. The government has also provided necessary relief measures to ease the economic burden on the public as much as possible.

The progress we are making across all sectors agriculture, fisheries, education, tourism, and infrastructure should grow even stronger in the coming year. By setting aside differences and working together with unity and dedication, we will undoubtedly achieve our shared goal of a “Prosperous Northern Province.”

May this Sinhala and Tamil New Year, born with new hopes, bring fresh light and happiness into your homes and hearts. May hard work and positive thinking lead our province and country toward economic prosperity.

Wishing everyone a happy Sinhala and Tamil New Year filled with peace, health, wealth, and all blessings, the Governor concluded in his message.
