A discussion regarding the development of Point Pedro Base Hospital was held today (Wednesday, 17.09.2025) at the Governor’s Secretariat under the chairmanship of Hon. Governor N. Vethanayahan.
The Governor appreciated the hospital director for his dedicated efforts in managing the treatment unit established at Point Pedro Base Hospital with financial assistance from the Government of the Netherlands.
He further emphasized that other hospital directors should also come forward to work with similar commitment. The Governor also assured that full cooperation will be extended to meet the staffing and other administrative requirements of the Point Pedro Base Hospital.
The hospital director highlighted various matters, including staffing needs, long-pending requests that had not been fulfilled in the past, and other administrative requirements. Each matter was carefully considered, and appropriate solutions were provided.
The discussion was attended by the Chief Secretary of the Northern Province, the Secretary to the Governor of the Northern Province, the Secretary of Ministry of Health – Northern Province, the Deputy Chief Secretary – Finance, the Provincial Director of Health Services – Northern Province, the Assistant Chief Secretary from Office of the Deputy Chief Secretary– Administration, the Regional Director of Health Services – Jaffna, the hospital superintendent, along with doctors and staff members.
