The 14th Sports Festival of North Province started on the morning of 06.09.2023 at Duraiyappa Stadium, Jaffna under the leadership of the Governor of North Province Mrs. PSM Charles.
Athletes from 651 schools in Northern Province will participate in provincial games after zonal and district-level wins. According to the provincial education ministry, around 5,000 athletes from 13 educational zones of Vavuniya, Jaffna, Mullaithivu, Kilinochchi and Mannar districts will participate in the games.
The 14th North Provincial Games featuring 120 sports events will be held from today to the 10th of September 2023. Also, 08 new sports events have been introduced in this year’s sports festival.
Prior to the Provincial Games, the Northern Province Governor Mrs PSM Charles presented medals and trophies to the winners of this year’s zonal level sports events.
The chief Secretary Mr. Saman Bandulasena, Education ministry Officers, Sports Officers and many other guests were participated in this event.
