The field day was held on 19.04.2023 under the theme of large-scale diversified home garden under the leadership of Mullaitivu district Deputy Provincial Director of Agriculture Mrs. Yamini Saseelan. Field in the integrated genetic resource model farm located in Udaiyaarkaddu, Teravil area of Mullaitivu district.
Mullaitivu District Government Agent Mr.K.Vimalanathan participated as Chief Guest, and Provincial Director of Agriculture Mrs.Sukanthini Senthilkumaran as Special Guests. Puthukudieiruppu Assistant Divisional Secretary , Administrative Officer of Provincial Department of Agriculture, Grama Officer, Subject Matter Officers, Agricultural Instructors, Technical Assistants, Farmers, School Students and teachers also participated in this field day.
Other field crops such as greengram, cowpea, maize, corn, millet, groundnut, vegetable crops such as okra, cucumber, longbeans, pumpkin and fruit trees were established and maintained well in the field. during the field day crop production technology including plant production were explained to the participants.
In his speech, the District Government Agent said that through this field day, farmers should learn new technologies and take advantage of the practices by carrying out cultivation.
In her address, the Provincial Director of Agriculture said that it is challenging to run a 120-acre farm with very few officers and seasonal Laboure’s and it is commendable that cultivation has been done in the best way with less management and less resources. She also said that she will do her best to solve the shortage of resources.
