Oli Vizha – 2022

Oli Vizha of the Northern Province was Celebrated By the Ministry of Education,  Sports, youth affairs and Cultural department in Unison with Divisional Secretariat of Sandilipay on 26th December 2022 around 2.30p.m at St.Peters Church, Navaly with the blessings of Rev.Fr.J.B.Antonythas Parish Priest St.Peters Church and With headship of Mrs.Rajamallaigai Sivasuntharasarma Deputy Director of Cultural Department.

This Occasion was graced by Mr.R.Varatheeswaran Secretary, Ministry of Education as the Chief   guest of the occasion. Mrs.Nesaratnam Selvakumary Assistant Divisional Secretary, Sandilipay graced the Occasion as the Honored guest for the event.  Mr.Muththusamy Mugunthakajan graced the occasion on behalf of ‘Jananam Charity’, Colombo as the Special guest of the occasion. Furthermore, the occasion was graced by Senior Assistant Secretary Ministry of Education, Department officers of Ministry of Education and by the General Public.

The occasion was commenced Successfully with the Welcoming of guests lighting the Oil lamp and Prayers. As the first event of the occasion welcome dance of Vannai Art Association was Performed.  After the dance Programme Senior Cultural officer Mrs.V.Sugunalini made welcome speech. Welcome speech was followed with the Christmas carols song by the Students of Hamsapiriya Music Institute, Echchamoddai. The Christmas blessings were given by The Rev.J.B.Antonythas, Parish Priest . The President’s speech was delivered by the Deputy Director of the Cultural Department.  Then the Country dance of Navanthurai Seminary Students, Coir dance of Navaly Parish Students, Youth Song by Navaly parish and Folk dance by Navanthurai parish were Staged to pleasure the audience. Christmas Thatha’s arrivals also added colour to the event. Then the secretary, Ministry of education made his chief guests’ speech.

Chief guest’s speech was followed with the Christmas dance. As the last event Dance with Music was staged by the Students of Church of Peththanija.  All the Students got Prize the stage were presented by the guests under the Sponsorship of ‘Jananam Charity’.  Vote of Thanks was done by the cultural officer Mrs.N.Rajani. The programme came to an end around 6.00p.m.
