An awareness exhibition on Indigenous Medicine was jointly organized by the Provincial Department of Indigenous Medicine – Northern Province, Indian High Commission and Siddha Teaching Hospital – Kaithady on 21st & 22nd of October – 2022 at Siddha Teaching Hospital, Kaithady in a way of celebrating National Ayurvedic Day of Ministry of Ayush – India.
In this exhibition, the Provincial Department of Indigenous Medicine exhibited and sold medicines which were produced by the Drug Manufacturing Unit and potted medicinal plants also were exhibited in a way of creating awareness among the public. Traditional food preparations, yoga and meditation also were demonstrated in this exhibition by Community Medical Officers.
This exhibition was highlighted by the presence of the Consul general of the Indian High Commission, the Secretary of the Health Ministry, and the Hon. Chairman of the Assembly Secretariat, Mayor – Municipal Council- Jaffna, Provincial Commissioner of Indigenous Medicine – Northern Province, Medical Officer in Charge – Siddha Teaching Hospital Kaithadi, other medical officers, staff, students and public. Altogether around 1000 visits were recorded on this occasion.
