The opening ceremony of the science labouratory of J/Kilali Roman Catholic Tamil Mixed School was constructed under the PSDG allocation was held on 26th January 2021. Governor of Northern Province Hon. Mrs. PSM Charles graced the event as Chief Guest and declared open the building.
In her address, Hon. Governor said that the shortage of resources for rural schools is the main concern of the Provincial Council at present. There is a big shortage of Science, Mathematics and English teachers in the schools of rural areas. Allocating teachers to rural schools is a huge challenge. This scientific laboratory has been constructed at a cost of large amount and handed over to you today for the future benefit of this young society on the basis that such matters should not continue in the future. Therefore, the Hon. Governor expressed her desire that this science laboratory should be a place for the achievement of the students and to have the proper guidance of the teachers and said that science is the students’ own thoughts beyond the teaching of their teachers.
She expressed her gratitude to the District Secretary and other relevant officials who provided cooperation to construct this building and said that she is ready to provide all possible assistance in the future too.
The event was attended by the Chief Secretary of the Northern Province, the Secretary of the Ministry of Education of the Northern Province, the Director of Education of the Northern Province, officials of the Northern Province Education Department, the Principal, teachers, and schoolchildren.
