The Hon. Governor of Northen Province, N. Vethanayahan, stated that works to identify lands have been initiated through the respective District Secretariats to establish industrial zones in Mannar, Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu Districts aiming to develop the industrial sector in Northern Province.
This was announced during the discussion held today (14.10.2026) at Governor’s Secretariat between the Governor and Hewage Jazas/ Chairman, Industrial Board of Ceylon.
The Governor noted that these identification efforts have been initiated in accordance with agreement reached earlier during the meeting with the Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development.
Further, during this meeting, the Chairman of Industrial Board of Ceylon explained the enhancement of infrastructure of Atchuveli and Poonthoddam Industrial Zones, investor attraction projects, loan facilities and other coordinating activities. The Secretary to the Governor and Director of Industrial Zone participated in the discussion.
