A training programme on paddy transplanting was conducted on 08.10.2019 in Omanthai area during Agriculture Promotion Week. In Vavuniya district paddy transplanting is very rare. Farmers only go for wet sowing. But when compare to other methods, transplanting will help to reap higher yield, also the seed rate per acre is very less. It reduces the spread of diseases and incidence of weeds. And it simplifies the agronomic practices like weeding. During this training program farmers were instructed regarding nursery establishment and transplanting techniques. Approximately 50 farmers participated in this training programme.
