On the occasion of the Thai Pongal the Trade Fair – 2022 organized by the Department of Industry, Northern Province in association with the State Ministry of Batik, Handloom and Local Apparel Production was held on January 11 and 12 at Jaffna Weerasingam Hall.
The fair was set up with 45 stalls to promote local entrepreneurs, handloom weavers and handicrafts makers including 15 handloom weaving exhibit and sales stalls, 15 batik exhibit and sales stalls and other local entrepreneurs’ production exhibit and stalls.
The Chief Secretary, Northern Province and Secretary, State Ministry of Batik, Handloom and Local Apparel Production participated as Chief Guest and Govt. Agents, Provincial Ministry Secretaries, Addl. Secretary – Development, State Ministry of Batik, Handloom and Local Apparel Production and Director, Department of Textile participated as Guests. Certificate and cash prizes awarded to the winners in the Handloom and Weaving Competition 2020 and 2021 by the guests.
