A large-scale “Integrity Walk” event, emphasizing the creation of a corruption-free administrative system by improving the quality, efficiency, and transparency of the public service, was successfully held today – on Tuesday 28 July 2026, in the Jaffna District.
In line with the guidance of the Presidential Secretariat, under the national initiative “Integrity Culture – Clean Sri Lanka,” and with the objective of strengthening an honest public service, the second day of Integrity Week (from July 27 to 31, 2026) was held under the theme “Integrity-Driven Digital Public Service.”
The walk was jointly organized by the Northern Provincial Council and the Jaffna District Secretariat. The team comprising Northern Provincial Council officials was flagged off by the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, at the Governor’s Secretariat premises. Meanwhile, the team representing the Jaffna District Secretariat and the departments under the line ministries was flagged off by Jaffna District Secretary M. Piiratheepan at the District Secretariat premises.
The walk began in two groups from the Governor’s Secretariat and the District Secretariat premises and converged on the A-9 Road in front of the Jaffna District Secretariat. From there, it proceeded along Hospital Road to Vembadi Junction, then through the Main Road returned to the District Secretariat premises.
The primary objective of this national program is to cultivate public officials who act ethically without supervision and who prioritize the welfare of the public over personal interests.
Those who participated in the Integrity Walk included Hon. Governor of the Northern Province N. Vethanayahan, the Chief Secretary of the Northern Province, the Jaffna District Secretary, Secretaries of the Provincial Ministries, Divisional Secretaries, Heads of Departments, Police, Security Forces and Navy officers, officials from ministries and departments under the Provincial Council, officials from district and divisional secretariats, coordinators of the “Clean Sri Lanka” task force and many others.
