The official websites for the five local councils in Jaffna were inaugurated today (10.01.2024) by the Honorable Governor of Northern Province P.S.M. Charles. These websites were in the auditorium of the Northern Province Governor’s Secretariat this morning.
The official websites of Velanai, Valigamam West, Delft, Vadamarachi South and West Pradhesa saba and Point Pedro urban Council were also launched today.
The Honorable Governor expressed his appreciation for the efforts taken by the local government organizations that can serve the people to carry out their work through the official websites. In addition, the Honorable Governor of the Northern Province P.S.M. Charles told the officials that the necessary facilities for the public to get their services through the Online and the facilities to pay the fees including taxes through the Online should be improved.
The Honorable Governor said that by providing such services, people’s rights will be protected and economic development will also take place. In addition, the Honorable Governor of the Northern Province, P.S.M. Charles, pointed out that local government councils can maintain their individuality.
After listening to the suggestions of the Honorable Governor, the officials said that they will take steps to better carry out public works by adding more data to the website that has been set up. The Secretary of the Honorable Governor of Northern Province, Commissioner of Local Government Council, Secretaries of Northern Province Ministries, Heads of Departments, High Officers and many others participated in today’s event.
