The Honorable Governor of the Northern Province has issued a directive to immediately dispose of unauthorized street stalls found in Jaffna district

Northern Province Honorable Governor P.S.M. Charles has instructed the departmental officials to take necessary measures to prevent the spread of dengue fever as more dengue patients have been reported in Jaffna district in the Northern Province. It has been reported that dengue virus outbreaks are increasing due to stagnant water especially in the drainage.

The Hon’ble Governor has instructed the police to immediately dispose of any pavement stalls that may have been set up on the roadsides and has also instructed to clean the drainage.

A letter has been sent to the Northern District Senior Deputy Commissioner of Police through the Secretary of the Governor M. Nandagopalan to take action in this matter. The Honorable Governor has also advised the Health Department, Local Government Commissioner and District GA to provide full cooperation for these activities. The Honorable Governor P.S.M.Charles has also issued instructions to remove the unauthorized street stalls found in Jaffna district until further notice is issued.
