Northern Province’s honourable Governor N. Vethayanahan stated that he firmly believes the Mullaitivu district, currently ranked first in poverty, will progress to the final stage of poverty alleviation thanks to these women achievers, who possess the courage and willpower to overcome barriers.
The awarding ceremony for providing the ‘Ariyatha Memorial Award’ with the memorial of brave woman Ariyatha for honouring multidisciplinary women achievers was successfully conducted on Tuesday (19th May of 2026) at the Pandaravanniyan Memorial Conference Hall of Mullaitivu District Secretariat.
Governor who participated as chief guest at this event was further stated as:
This event is not only for honouring women achievers, but it is also a pioneering event for inducing these types of other achievers. Mostly society doesn’t appreciate the achievements of those who are wealthy, but the real appreciation is for achievers who were in poverty, who were yearningly waiting for opportunities, and who have been avoided in many places.
If we do good for others, it will return to us as good as well; this is the law of nature. Likewise, if we do harm to others, it will definitely return as a boomerang. Nowadays, some are living a high lifestyle through saving money illegally; surely one day they will realise their fault.
Sharing of their experiences by these women achievers is the best lesson for all. Stories of these achievers will be a good lesson for all. Stories of these achievers will be a good lesson for us when we are fed up with the struggles and when we wind up our endeavors while we face barriers. If we lose heart when faced with hardships, we will fade away. Today’s younger generation should certainly learn these lessons from them. Even those who are disheartened in life will rise again with renewed courage when they hear about their journeys of achievement.
A. Umamageswaran, District Secretary of Mullativu District, is an honest authority who serves very dedicatedly for the development of the district. I believe that their multiple new endeavors, including providing these awards, will definitely lead to a good path for the future trend of the Mullativu district.
At this event, in recognition of women’s leadership, entrepreneurship, social service, ability to bring about change in society, and various achievements, six outstanding women selected for these qualities were honored with the ‘Ariyaththai memorial Award’ by the Mullaitivu District Secretariat.
