A request was made to the Hon. Governor of Northern Province to re-establish the NPCODA (Northern Province Consortium of Organisations for Differently-Abled ), which was originally formed through a collaboration with various associations for differently-abled in Northern Province. On Monday, November 25, 2024, Dr. Malaravan, a consultant ophthalmologist at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, and Mr. V. Subramaniam, the coordinator of the University of Vavuniya, met to discuss the matter.
During the discussion, they emphasized the need to implement the policy that had been created when the provincial council was operational. They also suggested establishing a focal point for the differently-abled at the Governor’s Secretariat in the Northern Province. Hon. Governor responded positively, stating that he would consider the request favourably.
