Representatives of Indian Universities call on Governor

A delegation consists of representatives of the famous Indian universities visited Jaffna and participated at the exhibition held in Jaffna on 11th and 12th January. The delegation paid a courtesy call on Governor of Northern Province Dr. Suren Raghavan at his Secretariat which is located at Chundikuli, Jaffna.

The Governor requested the Indian delegates to support the rebuilding of education of Northern Province which has been affected due to the civil war.

Governor of Northern Province pointed out that there are opportunities for students to get new experiences through student exchange programs between the school and university students of both India and Sri Lanka. He also asked the delegates to take action to do this with the support of the Jaffna Indian Consulate.

Presenting their opinion, the delegation said that they are ready to provide assistance to the development of education of Northern Province as much as possible and they would take the possible steps along with the Indian Embassy regarding the student exchange programme.

Indian Consul, Jaffna S.Balachandran, Secretary to the Governor L.Ilaangovan and other relevant officials were also present in this meeting.
