The annual competition for promoting the local hand loom weavers organized by the Department of Industries, Northern Province in association with the Department of Hand loom and Textile was held on 06th November 2021 at J/Kanagaratnam Central Maha Vidyalayam in accordance with the health guidelines.
The competition was held with the participation of the Provincial Director of Industries, Director, Asst. Director of Department of Hand loom, members of the competition jury and departmental staff.
216 hand loom weaving works were submitted by weavers in the Northern Province. 12 first places, 08 second places, 08 third places and 20 talent prizes were awarded in the competition.
Also, 48 hand loom works which were selected in the provincial level competition were submitted to the National Level Competition.
Awards, certificates and cash prizes will be awarded to the winners at the provincial and national levels.
