The Hon. Governor of the Northern Province N. Vethanayahan personally conveyed his congratulations to Most Rev. Fr. Anton Ranjith Pillainayagam, who assumed office as the new Bishop of the Diocese of Jaffna.
The assumption of office ceremony of Most Rev. Fr. Anthon Ranjith Pillainayagam, who has been appointed as the new Bishop of the Diocese of Jaffna, was held today – on Wednesday 26 August 2026, in Jaffna. The Hon. Governor of the Northern Province N. Vethanayahan participated in the event and conveyed his best wishes to the new Bishop.
Many people, including the priests and nuns of the Diocese, church administrators, devotees and members of the public, participated in the religious ceremony held to mark the assumption of office of the new Bishop.
A large number of people from various sectors, including interfaith leaders, Hon. Members of Parliament, government officials and members of the security forces, participated in the event.
