The Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Social Services is excited to announce the commencement of the second free medical camp for prosthetic limb implantations in the Northern Province. This camp has been organized for the persons with disabilities, residing permanently in Northern Province with the ultimate support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, India, the Consulate General of India in Jaffna, the Chief Secretary’s Secretariat, the District Secretariat, Jaffna, and the Department of Social Services, Northern Province, with the technical assistance from Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), Jaipur, India. It is currently being held from June 4th to June 20th, 2024, at the Skill Development Centre, Old Park Road, Chundikuli, Jaffna. It underscores our commitment to enhancing access to essential services for individuals with disabilities.
The camp has been organized with the aim of restoring a dignified social life to the individuals with disabilities who have unfortunately lost their limbs and at the same time to empower them economically. Beneficiary selection has been meticulously conducted with the Department of Social Services, Northern Province. 350 beneficiaries are expected to be benefitted this time. The camp has already brought joy to numerous beneficiaries, showcasing our dedication to meeting the needs of the individuals with disabilities.
The technologists from Jaipur Organization’s Jaffna Branch have also joined hands with the team from India to get accustomed to the new innovative technologies introduced in prosthetic limb implantations.
This ongoing initiative demonstrates our shared commitment to inclusivity and empowering individuals in our communities who require specialized care and support.
