Livelihood Assistance Schemes for Nalivutu Women-Headed Families were delivered on a priority basis in five districts of the Northern Province by the Ministry of Women Affairs of Northern Province last year on 12/12/2024 in Jaffna District. The same events were held on on 18/12/2024 in Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu Districts, and on 20/12/2024 in Mannar and Vavuniya Districts. The Secretary of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Northern Province, the Assistant Secretary, District Women Development Officers, District Social Service Officers, and Ministry officials participated with determination.
In this event, out of 40 beneficiaries from the Jaffna district 29 beneficiaries for new business ventures, and 11 beneficiaries for further expansion of self-employment, benefitted.
In Killinochchi district,11 got new businesses and 03 received support to expand their present ventures.
In Mullaitivu and Mannar, 14 and 18 new Livelihood assistance were given respectively. Two and Five beneficiaries got assistances to expand their businesses respectively. Out of 16 beneficiaries in vavuniya district, 11 got supports for new businesses and 05 got expansion supports.
Beneficiaries learnt about simple accounting methods for their businesses and were informed about the Ministry’s continuous monitoring of the well being of the beneficiaries.
