International day of Persons With Disabilities was organized by the Department of Social Services Northern Province held on 03.12.2022 at Weerasingam Hall, Jaffna.
Provincial Director of the Department of Social Services, Northern Province Ms.Ahalya Segarajah presided the occasion. Mr.S.M.Saman Bandulasena, Chief Secretary – Northern Province graced the event as Chief Guest and Mrs. Rubini Varathalingam, Secretary Ministry of Women Affairs, Northern Province and Mr.M.Piratheepan, Additional District Secretary – Jaffna graced the event as Special Guest. Ms.Ethirmanasinghe Clamant Christilda, Development Officer, District Social Service Office, Kilinochchi participated as Guest of Honour.
There were various stage programmes conducted by persons with disabilities from all 5 districts.
Prizes were given for provincial level winners who were selected through several types of competitions for persons with disabilities.
The Chief Secretary honoured the two disabled students who got the best results in O/Level and A/Levels.
NGOs have launched the ICT/ Digital platform of services available for persons with disabilities at this occasion.
