At the invitation of the administration of Jaffna Hindu College, the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, visited the “SCIVERSE 2K26” Science Practical Exhibition being held at the college premises today – on Wednesday, 22 July 2026.
The exhibition, organized by the Science Society of Jaffna Hindu College, is being conducted at the college’s Advanced Level section under the theme “Experiment, Explore, Excel” over a period of three days – Wednesday (Today), Thursday, and Friday.
The exhibition features all science laboratory experiments prescribed in the General Certificate of Examination (Ordinary Level) curriculum for Grades 10 and 11. These experiments are being demonstrated live by the college’s Advanced Level students, who provide detailed explanations of each practical activity. Grade 10 and 11 students from various schools across the Jaffna District have been participating enthusiastically, observing the laboratory experiments firsthand and benefiting from this valuable learning experience.
During his visit, the Governor visited the various exhibition stalls, observed the students’ projects and practical demonstrations, and highly commended the dedication of the principal, teachers, and students for organizing this outstanding educational initiative aimed at enhancing students’ scientific knowledge and practical skills.
The Principal also informed the Governor of plans to organize a similar science practical exhibition in the Kilinochchi District so that more students could benefit from such an initiative. Welcoming this proposal, the Governor assured that the Provincial Council would extend all necessary support to facilitate the implementation of the programme in Kilinochchi District.
