In view of the chariot festival of the Nallur Kandaswamy Temple, Governor of the Northern Province Hon. N. Vethanayahan has instructed the Secretary of the Provincial Ministry of Education Northern Province take steps to grant a holiday day after tomorrow – on Wednesday (09 September 2026), to the relevant schools under the Jaffna and Nallur Education Divisions.
Following a request submitted to the Hon. Governor to grant a special holiday to schools in view of the Nallur Chariot Festival, the Governor, having favourably considered the matter, has instructed that steps be taken to grant a special holiday on 2026.09.09 to the relevant schools under the Jaffna and Nallur Education Divisions.
At the same time, the Governor has instructed that arrangements should also be made to conduct replacement school sessions in order to compensate for the loss in learning activities caused by the said holiday.
