In order to increase the volume of the skilled labour force in Tourism and Hospitality Management, Northern Province Tourism Bureau has initiated a training programme for unemployed youth who live in Northern Province. This training programme will provide better understanding about hotel operations and hospitality management among youth. From the applications received, 30 students have been selected to follow in the first batch of the apprenticeship programme which is being conducted at Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) – Jaffna.
The inaugural session of the first batch training programme held at 10.00 am on 10th August 2023 at SLITHM – Jaffna. Chairman of the Northern Province Tourism Bureau Mr.A.Pathinathan, Director of Northern Province Tourism Bureau Mr.S.Kishokkumar have participated at the inaugural session. Mr.Tharshan Selvarajah the award winner of 30th annual “Grand Prix de la meilleure Baguette de Paris” – 2023, has participated and delivered a motivational address to the newly joined students. He shared his experiences and counsel the students. He advised the students to put hard work and commitment to achieve their goals.
Tharshan Selvarajah took first place in the 30th annual “Grand Prix de la Baguette de Francaise de la Ville De Paris – 2023,” the most revered Baguette competition held in Paris in 2023. He has also been awarded the contract to supply his bakery products to the French President’s House for a period of one year.
