Foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of the warehouse facilities for Vavuniya District of the Northern Province with the funding of World Bank under the Covid-19 Emergency Situation by the Central Ministry of Agriculture through Provincial Department of Agriculture was held on 15th of July 2021 at 12 pm at the area of Nedunkeni Divisional Secretariat boundary.
After laying the foundation stone for the construction of the warehouse, the Honourable Governor of the Northern Province Mrs.P.S.M.Charles addressed that this initiative would assist the rural farmers to store the grains as well as the by-products and delivering them at the right time. Also, Hon. Governor expressed her appreciation and gratitude for the financial assistance extended by His Excellency the President, Minister of Agriculture, and for his Secretary and the Agricultural officers those who were supported to implement the project.
In this ceremony, Vavuniya District Government Agent, the Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Northern Province, Department of Irrigation Officers, and the well-wishers of the agriculture sector were presented.
