Agri-Business Farmer Partnership Agreement for Market Linkage for four Agriculture commodities was ceremonially handed over by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Economic Affairs, Livestock Development, Irrigation, and Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development P.Harison to the Leaders of the Commodity Producer Societies and Official of the 5 Agro-based Industries in a function held at the Ministry of Agriculture, Colombo on 13th February 2019.
Members of the Commodity Producers Societies for the crops; Ground nut, Papaw fruits, Passion and Alovera, Official of Agro Based Industry , Project Director for ASMP , Director General of Agriculture and Provincial Directors of Agriculture have signed the Agri -Business Farmer Partnership Agreement for purchasing the specified agriculture commodities at the Ministry of Agriculture Colombo on 13.02.2019 with the objective of providing reasonable and stable price to agriculture products of farmers.
Agri -Business Farmer Partnership Agreement was signed between Leaders of Ground nut Producer Societies of Mullaitivu district and David Gram Stores and Amal Gram Stores for ground nut, Leaders of Papaw Fruits Producers Society and Official of Sunfrost (Pvt) Limited of Hayleys Agriculture for papaw fruits, Leaders of Passion Fruits Producers Society and Official of Lanka Canneries(Pvt ) Ltd for passion fruits, and
Leaders of Aloveera Producers Society and Official of Country Style Foods (Pvt) Ltd and Alahakoon Plantations (Pvt ) Ltd for aloevera leaves.
In respect of Northern Province, Muttaiyankaddukulam Groundnut Producers Society, Muththuvinayagarpuram Ground nut Producers Society and Pandaravanni Ground nut Producers Society of Oddusudan entered into Agri -Business Farmer Partnership Agreement with David Gram Stores while Ganeshapuram Thaddayamalai Ground nut Producers Society ,Oddusuddan Ground nut Producers Society and Thanduvan Ground nut Producers Society entered into Agri -Business Farmer Partnership Agreement with Amal Gram Stores for selling cleaned and dried Groundnut at a price ranging from Rs.175/= /kg to Rs 200/= / kg according to its quality. As per the agreement 600,000 kg of cleaned and dried Groundnut produced from 200 acres are to be supplied by the farmers and purchased by these 2 companies. Agri -Business Farmer Partnership Agreement will be expanded to other parts of the district and province with time horizon based on its success.
