A total of 750 vision screening charts, donated for the “Village Vision Care Program,” were officially handed over to the Northern Provincial Ministry of Health through the Hon. Governor, N. Vethanayahan.

These 750 vision screening charts, donated by Vision Care Company for the “Village Vision Care Program” to be implemented in the Northern Province, were formally handed over today – on Tuesday, 07 April 2026, at the Governor’s Secretariat, through the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, to the Provincial Ministry of Health – Northern Province.

The initial phase of this program, which will cover all five districts of the Northern Province, is scheduled to commence in the Kilinochchi District after the upcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

Under this initiative, the vision charts will be distributed to a total of 103 medical institutions, including 55 divisional hospitals and 48 primary healthcare centers across the province, as well as to 709 units including Public Health Inspectors and Public Health Midwife divisions. Accordingly, the 750 charts have been provided by Vision Care Company.

In the first phase, underprivileged villages will be selected, and screening activities will be carried out there. Consultant ophthalmologist surgeon Dr. M. Malaravan stated that appropriate training will be provided to the relevant personnel to conduct these screenings.

It is noteworthy that Vision Care Company has made this contribution as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative.

The event was attended by the Secretary to the Governor of the Northern Province, the Secretary of the Provincial Ministry of Health – Northern Province, the Acting Provincial Director of Health Services of the Northern Province, the Regional Director of Health Services of Jaffna District, Consultant ophthalmologist Surgeon Dr. M. Malaravan, and representatives of Vision Care Company.
