As an important component of the initiatives to restore the livelihoods of people affected by the disaster to normalcy, a special event to distribute learning materials to students was held today – on Tuesday, 16 December 2025, in the morning at the Punnaineeravi Government Tamil Mixed School, which falls under the Kandavalai Divisional Secretariat Division in Kilinochchi District.
The event was graced by the Hon. R. Chandrasekar, Minister of Fisheries, Aquatic and Ocean Resources, and the Hon. N. Vethanayahan, Governor of the Northern Province, as the chief guests. On this occasion, learning material packs worth three thousand rupees (Rs. 3,000) each were officially distributed to 284 selected school students.
Organized under the direct guidance of the Kilinochchi District Secretary, Mr. S. Muralitharan, this event was implemented by coordinating donations received by the District Secretariat from various donors. It is also noteworthy that plans are in place to distribute these learning materials to all students in the district affected by the disaster.
The event was attended by the Zonal Director of Education – Kilinochchi North, the Kandavalai Divisional Secretary, the Assistant Director of Disaster Management of Kilinochchi District, other government officials, and members of the school community.
