Valvai Vigneswara Community Centre and Valvai Uthayasooriyan Club are jointly organising Kite Festival at Valvettithurai beach on Thai Pongal day, annually. Thousands of local people attend to this festival and witness different kinds of kites which fly in the sky
A promotion campaign for Kite Festival was organised by the Tourism Bureau of Northern Province to promote this event among visiting foreign tourists. Promotional leaflets were issued to several leading hotels in Jaffna to disseminate the information.
On Kite festival day (15th January 2020), free transport service was provided to foreign tourists who wanted to witness the festival. They enjoyed the festival and appreciated the efforts taken by the Tourism Bureau to promote this event.
