The Aadi Pirappu Festival, a traditional Tamil celebration, was held with great distinction today – on Friday, 17 July 2026, at the Governor’s Secretariat of Northern Province.
This traditional event was excellently organized by the Northern Province Governor’s Secretariat Employees’ Welfare Society and was graced by the participation of the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan. In addition, the renowned spiritual speaker, Dr. Aaru Thirumurugan, attended the event as the keynote speaker.
The event commenced with a welcome address by the Secretary to the Governor, Sivapathasuntharam Sathiyaseelan. This was followed by a congratulatory address delivered by the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan. Adding further distinction to the celebration, the staff of the Governor’s Secretariat delighted the audience with a melodious rendition of the “Aadi Pirappu Song.”
This was followed by the keynote address of Dr. Aaru Thirumurugan. In his speech, he logically and scientifically explained how the wisdom passed down by our ancestors through spiritual knowledge aligns with modern science. He also elaborated on the philosophical background of why the Aadi Pirappu festival is celebrated and explained in depth how this festival serves as a noble occasion that harmoniously connects human life with nature.
The Aadi Pirappu celebration, which was conducted in an exemplary manner highlighting traditional values, concluded on a pleasant note with a vote of thanks delivered by the President of the Governor’s Secretariat Employees’ Welfare Society, K. Kamalabagu.
