Now we have reached the middle of the year. Development plan works must be expedited – Hon. Governor

A monthly progress review of the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Rehabilitation, Social Services, Cooperatives, Food Supply & Distribution, Industries, Enterprise Promotion, and Trade & Commerce of the Northern Province was held today (Monday, 15th June of 2026) at the Governor’s Secretariat.

At the beginning of this instruction, the Hon. Governor, who provided instruction to the authorities, directed that ‘We have reached the middle of the year. Therefore, all plans should be completed within the next one or two months, without delaying purchasing activities until the end of the year.

Following the progress review of the ministry, the governor instructed that assistance be provided immediately to the identified beneficiaries of the projects. As a reply to this Secretary to the Minister said that The purchasing works are expected to be completed within the next month; after that, the plans can be finalized soon.

Meanwhile, projects of the department under the specific ministry should be reviewed solely.

The governor directed that the activities of some projects be finished urgently to recently recognize the Department of Cooperative Development.

Special attention was paid at the meeting regarding the increase of payments for those who receive vocational training through the Department of Industries. Further, the governor provides suggestions to analyse regarding activities of said department in other provinces in line with the function of the Department of Industries with unique and innovative thoughts.

Higher attention must be paid to repairing works of the ambulance for the Kaithady Elders’ Home under the Department of Social Services and its urgent requirements. With that, it was deeply discussed about the current issues caused, as no one has applied for the vacancies on contract.

Most of them participated in this meeting, including the Northern Province deputy secretary, the secretary to the governor, the secretary to the relevant ministry, the deputy chief secretaries (finance, planning), the personal secretary to the governor, the director of the Department of Industries, the director of the Department of Social Services, the director of the Department of Buildings, and the assistant commissioner of the Department of Cooperative Development.
