The Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, praised and honored the employees of the Delft Pradeshiya Sabha who worked with great dedication on site during the Kachchathivu festival. This special event was held today – on Thursday, 23 April 2026 at the Northern Province Governor’s Secretariat.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner of Local Government, S. Sutharsan stated that the role and contribution of the Delft Pradeshiya Sabha were crucial to the success of the Kachchathivu festival. However, he noted that these employees, who work tirelessly on the ground, had long felt a lack of proper recognition. He added that today’s commendation ceremony was organized to address that concern and to formally recognize their service.
In his address, the Hon. Governor extended his heartfelt appreciation to all the officers who had performed exceptionally well.
He further pointed out that working under challenging conditions in Kachchathivu where basic facilities are limited and carrying out essential tasks such as maintaining cleanliness on site is no easy feat. He emphasized that recognizing and honoring these employees, who carried out their duties with unwavering dedication despite such hardships, is of great importance.
A total of 14 employees from the Delft Pradeshiya Sabha who served during the Kachchathivu festival were officially awarded commendation certificates by the Hon. Governor.
The Governor also specially recognized and honored the Vice Chairman of the council, who worked directly alongside the employees on site, providing guidance and leadership.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Delft Pradeshiya Sabha and several officials from the Governor’s Secretariat.
