The Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan, undertook an inspection visit today – on Wednesday 25 February 2026, to the ‘KIST’ factory of Cargills located in the Ariviyal Nakaram, Kilinochchi.
Upon arrival at the factory, the Governor was received by R. Balakumar, Northern Regional Business Development Manager of Cargills Company.
During the visit, the Governor was briefed in detail on several key matters, including the mechanisms through which vegetables and fruits are directly procured from farmers in the Northern Province, as well as the process of purchasing milk from dairy farmers.
Officials also explained the special incentives and benefits provided to farmers and dairy producers who continuously supply local produce to the company. Furthermore, the Governor was informed about the corporate social responsibility initiatives being implemented by the company across the province.
Notably, members of the Governor’s Advisory Committee, led by Dr. Akilan Kathirkamar, also participated in this special inspection visit, which aimed at encouraging and supporting local producers.
