Under the coordination of the Sri Lanka – Canada Business Council, a special discussion regarding the Entrepreneur Award presentation event, which is being organized for the second time this year, was held under the leadership of the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province, N. Vethanayahan.
This discussion took place this evening – on Monday 16 February 2026, at the Northern Province Governor’s Secretariat, where detailed deliberations were conducted on conducting the award event in an exemplary manner.
This award presentation event is planned to cover the Northern and Eastern Provinces, including the Puttalam District. During the discussion, extensive talks were held on the sectors under which awards will be given, the eligibility criteria for the awards, and the selection procedures.
With the aim of creating awareness and interest among entrepreneurs regarding this award program, it was decided at the meeting to directly visit each district and provide clarifications about the award program to District Secretaries and relevant sectoral officials.
The discussion was attended by the Secretary to the Governor of the Northern Province, Secretaries of the Ministries of Agriculture and Local Government, Deputy Chief Secretary – Administration, Deputy Chief Secretary – Planning, representatives from all five District Secretariats of the Northern Province, representatives of the Investment Board, representatives of the Northern Province Exporters’ Association, as well as the President, members from the Sri Lanka – Canada Business Council and many others.
